(DIPF/Orig.). Standardized nationwide examinations have been carried out in Nordrhein-Westfalen at the end of educational programs since 2007 with the aim of ensuring andenhancing the quality of schooling. At the same time, the education act for NRW (2006) provides as one central theme that all students ought to be supported individually. On the one hand, so called output-guidelines have therefore been implemented from the viewpoint of educational politics and on the other hand frameworks concerning the school and teaching process have been taken as a basis. Current findings on the realization of individual support show that there is still a need of optimization. If and to what extent the nearly simultaneous implementation of the two aforementioned innovations can be seen as a cause of the poor enforcement of individual support because they are-from the teaching staff's viewpoint -contradictory, has not yet been investigated empirically. The study at hand addresses this desideratum and questions teachers from various school types and grades in NRW about the relation between individual support and central examinations in the framework of a quantitative survey.
