Abstract | Educators and policymakers envision the future of education in Egypt as enabling learners to acquire scientific inquiry and problem solving skills. To be presented in this paper is the evaluation of a physics teaching program on 7th grade students' experimental problem solving, experimental strategy knowledge, achievement perceptions and motivation towards science. Six instruments were successfully implemented. An intervention was conducted during a six week-long unit (five-double lessons) at a middle school in Egypt. The sample included 147 students. A two-group, pre/post-test, quasi-experimental design was used. The intervention group was compared with students who were taught according to the status quo to determine possible differences in learning outcomes or abilities. The results of this study showed that students in the intervention group performed significantly better with a small and medium effect size in the aforementioned dependent variables. |
