AbstractThe goal of the research was to identify existing didactic problems of young adolescents' non-formal physical education in school and to highlight their solution possibilities. Six comprehensive schools from various Lithuanian districts and different population cities - Vilnius, Klaipeda, Alytus, Silute, Gargzdai - participated in this research. 669 young adolescents were questioned by using the method of anonymous questionnaire survey. 42.6% fifth graders and 57.4% of sixth graders were questioned. On the sex aspect respondents' numbers were similar: 52.3% of boys and 47.7% of girls. Most questions were closed-ended or semi-closed. Aiming to get information on concrete pupils' needs about NFPE in school, we gave them to answer an open-ended question "Describe your dream school sports club". When analyzing research data, descriptive and analytic (Chi-quadrat (x2) criterion) statistics methods were applied. Data analyzed with SPSS program (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences), version 17.0. Research results lead to the statement that nonformal physical education in schools encounters didactic problems and the children of age 11-13 are the target group to experience them. The elements of young adolescents' non-formal physical education in school didactic system - teaching goal, content, and principles - only partially answer children needs and existing conceptual regulations of non-formal physical education. Identification and reflection of didactic problems form possibilities to state that it is purposeful in non-formal physical education in school of young adolescents: 1) to settle education of pupils, who do not participate in sport activities in other institutions and who have weak health as well as are of less physical and functional capacity, as the priority; 2) to direct education content towards young adolescents' innate physical powers (physical activity, physical health, physical development and physical capacity) and general competencies training, considering every child's knowledge, abilities, and attitudes development as integral process; 3) to ground nonformal physical education with particularly important principles of voluntarism, accessibility, topicality, and individualization. To differentiate tasks considering pupils' hobbies, needs, abilities, health state, and individual peculiarities of physical and functional powers; 4) to apply various education forms and person activating methods that encourage asking, exploring, experimenting, applying, analyzing, and solving problems.
