Abstract | The purpose of the study was to consider physical culture as a socio-cultural phenomenon of socio-cultural development of student personality. By the analysis of theoretical-methods basics of formation and development of personal physical culture in modern education they are based on modern humanistics concepts of the general theory of culture, human activity in view of philosophic, pedagogical and psychological aspects. The unity of biological and social components is revealed. The studies revealed trends of university educational process on physical culture: - philosophic-methodological, humanitarian-gnostic, ethic-communicative, ecological-moral, ethic-emotional; - creation of educative-developing university environment facilitating mastering of the values of physical culture, allocation of value-essential basics in sports and recreational activity; - focus of educative process on students' personal physical and spiritual development, its subjectiveness, self-development and self-perfection; - recognition of corporal culture as an acute criterion of students' qualitative development, formation of positive image of physical self-identity correlating with such student personal qualities as self-confidence, activity, social skills.
