Abstract | For several years now, the term "Lehrhaus" in Germany undergoes a certain renaissance. Originally it signifies an ancient Jewish institution for the lifelong study of the Torah. The German-Jewish philosopher Franz Rosenzweig redeveloped the "Lehrhaus" into a modern school for a turning back to Judaism and laid the foundation for spiritual resistance against the humiliation of the German Jews by the Nazis. At the Jewish Lehrhaus in Stuttgart, Martin Buber held dialogues with Christians. The new Lehrhaus at Stuttgart, a foundation dedicated to the interreligious dialogue between Jews, Christians and Muslims, takes up this tradition. Torah-learning finds its purpose in itself, it aims at a responsible behaviour. Herein it corresponds with the knowledge and the learning experiences of elderly people. The Lehrhaus therefore is also a place for intergenerational learning and ethical orientation. (DIPF/Orig.). |
