| Abstract | The normative foundations of didactical concepts for physical education have a long tradition in German sport pedagogy. In recent years there has been a growing demand to analyze empirically the desired processes and effects of central didactical ideas. Thus, sport pedagogical impact and evaluation research of physical education was established. Consequently, the review at hand focuses on these aspects of research. Two literature reviews, several contributions concerning research approaches, and actual projects have been published during the review period 2010-2011. These show that constructive activities concerning sport pedagogical impact and evaluation research do exist. They also reveal, however, that this research area is still in a rather exploratory stage. The first part of this review (based on survey research) introduces the methodological and theoretical points of origin, as well as the impact and evaluation research in physical education (and more general, sports in a school setting). The second part focuses on the 2010-2011 review period. Here the authors provide an overview of current methodological and methodical research articles in addition to the current state of impact research and evaluation research in physical education.
