Abstract	During the British Occupation period of Lower Saxony after 1945, the British forces introduced the concept of child-care-clinics to assist the German authorities in re-education efforts. The driving force in the German educational administration was Hans Alfken, a victim of the Nazis. The reconstructionists were confronted with the enormous problems of mass relocation of children and young adults by a westward shift of population - from Eastern and Central Europe into Western Germany. This article documents the interviews and minutes of sessions from the first group of trainers whose methods came from their professional training during the Nazi Era, augmented by the child care clinic concepts. Their own personal history overshadowed the acceptance of newest Anglo-American concepts for the next 30 years, such as indicated by losses in the concepts of primarily Jewish psychoanalysts who had emigrated to the UK and USA.
