| Abstract | The Nobel Peace Prize has been awarded 90 times to 120 Nobel Laureates between 1901 and 2009, 97 times to individuals and 23 times to organizations. Unlike the scientific and literary Nobel Prizes, which are usually issued in retrospect, often two or three decades after the awarded achievement, the Peace Prize has been awarded for more recent or immediate achievements. As a criteria established by the founder of the award, Alfred Nobel, and the Peace Prize Committee are rather vague, there have often been discussions about certain laureates and whether their achievements justify the award. The authors' suggestions have the function of making the pupils familiar with the criteria for nomination by means of some examples of Nobel Peace Prize laureates. The pupils should also develop a critical view of this prize by comparing it to the "Right Livelihood Award", better known as the 'Alternative Nobel Prize', which is also awarded every year for outstanding achievements.
