From the introduction (translation): Approximation is a central mathematical idea to be developed in upper secondary mathematics lessons. It does not only describe measuring processes as single approximations but it makes them theoretically accessible as systematic and controllable limiting processes. But the central idea of approximation is already present in the lower secondary school level, and students are early able to pick up different experiences with limits, according to cumulative learning, which they can afterwards use in the upper secondary to broaden their concepts, as well as to connect them vertically and horizontally. |
