Abstract	Adult education and learning is getting more attention and recognition within the concept of lifelong learning, which now has become the major paradigm within educational theory and practice. This is even more so within the context of educational organisations like UNESCO on the global, EU on the regional, and DVV on the national level. There are clear indications that these levels and their respective organisations influence each other via policies, programmes, models, and even funding procedures. This is exemplified here by looking at the process that has been gaining importance in the last few years in the preparation of the next world conference on adult education, which following its French name is expressed through acronym of CONFINTEA VI. (DIPF/Orig.).
