(Autorenreferat). "The problematical relationship between education and sociology has become abundantly clear in the field of youth sociology research. Especially sociology, as a scientific discipline, tries to distinguish itself from education because sociology disapproves of the normative assumptions of education and therefore denies education the status of an empirical science. In this paper 'socialization' is proposed as an integrative key category. Some concrete examples of educational and youth sociological research are presented that clearly show how the interdisciplinary involvement of sociology-oriented educational researchers."
