| Abstract | In the theory of foreign language learning, intercomprehension is regarded as a powerful tool for promoting plurilingual metalinguistic and metacognitive competences. The systematic retrieval of socalled bases of transfer and the monitoring of learning behaviour in particular make the learner discover his interlanguage and learning processes. In the field of didactics, intercomprehension consistently emphasizes the organization of individually retrievable knowledge. It has considerably differentiated and extended the notion of transfer in terms of linguistic references and language learning. Building on experiences with intercomprehension, the purpose of the article is to contribute to a clarification of the concepts of metalinguistic and metacognitive competences. It allows a better operationalization, when these terms are put into practice. Semantic implications are illustrated on the basis of learner data. (Verlag, adapt.). |
