Abstract | The authors address the possible effects of the value change in a post-industrialised society on students' learning motivation. Several experimental studies confirm their specific theory of motivational action conflicts (TMAC) about the relationships between value, action conflicts, decisions in action conflicts, motivational interference, time investment, and academic achievement. The project group proposes a counteraction of the current dilemma of dealing with competing achievement values and well-being values by offering students - for example - support in planning and structuring their learning and leisure time.
