From the introduction: The first topic deals with the algorithmic side of number theory which is reflected, among other things, in the intensive use of computer algebra systems. The new SAGE system presented here has been developed since 2004 as a free Open Source product by mathematical colleagues. The second is on new developments in the study of the number domain of real and complex numbers originated in the theory of periods. An almost elementary approach by Kontsevich and Zagier is presented here. The most fascinating number-theoretic objects are the prime numbers. Prime number tests and factorization methods are treated in the third section. It describes the polynomial AKS test and the also polynomial factorization algorithm by Shor which uses quantum computers. |
