Abstract | Though the turn to a new millennium furnished a special opportunity to consider how a coming to terms with history can and must be structured, it is even more important to ask how the next generation will deal with the inheritance of National Socialism as the last people to testify events and sufferings from the Nazi regime will die within the next few years. Whatever the answer will be the authentic historic sites will play a dominant role as transmitters. The Documentation Centre on the former Nazi Party Rally Grounds, open since November 2001, resumes the experiences of its "Learning and Study Centre" in the first five years. Its offer of activities and programmes is based on themes and questions especially linked to the former Party Rally Grounds. There are no set answers in this dynamic process, but to discuss them openly at a location like this is a valuable experience itself. (DIPF/Orig.). |
