Abstract | The article first traces a short history of the trade-union situation in the education system in Ouebec. Then it deals with the founding and development of a research group within the "Centrale des syndicats du Ouebec" (CSO). At the time it was called "Centrale de I'ensei- gnement du Quebec". Storting with the crisis situation in the union and the profession, which presided over such a founding, it describes the war research programs have been planned and how the relations with the union' s internal political process was set up. Then it starts studying the main themes developed throughout the years and identifies their political impacts, internally as weil as externally. Finally the article explains how the relations between the CSQ and research have evolved after the founding of the group and describes the change from a functional relation to some forms of institutionalisation of this relation.
