This article deals with the funding of private Business Schools in Germany. Different sources of funding and sponsoring motivations are identified and quantified with the help of empirical data from the three private German Business Schools EBS, HHL and WHU. The article concludes that a complete commercialization of a Business School is an illusion if one thinks of a commercial exchange of services between the School on the one hand and students as well as companies on the other hand. The funding must always include financial support by foundations or private persons who do not expect a commercial return on investment. (HoF/text adopted). |
