AbstractThe Network Intercultural Learning in Europe (NILE) has started to collect 'good practice' examples of intercultural learning activities in Europe. Network members emphasize that adult education has an important role to play in developing concepts and finding strategies to promote intercultural learning not only on an individual, but also on a structural level. But to achieve a long-term and sustainable change on the structural level a 'mainstreaming' process will be necessary. The question 'what does this mean' was a prominent companion throughout the project period and although not yet comprehensively investigated there are a couple of recommendations summarized in this brochure. In volume II of the monograph the authors collected some examples of the processes that have taken place during the NILE project period from 2003 to 2005. All of them show that change is a slow process which needs persistence, patience, and creativity. This brochure is to be seen in close relationship with volume I, in which the authors outlined 'the state of the art' in intercultural learning in the different countries of the project partnership. This was the main process in the first phase of the project. In the second and third phases the partnership has tried to layout some cornerstones for a possible path to change. The brochure is divided into two chapters and annexes. In the first chapter a more general framework for making the necessary changes are laid out in the form of contributions highlighting different aspects of the mainstreaming issue. (DIPF/Orig./Ba.).
