Abstract	Identity is reflected and created in our talk. Our daily routines are filled with interaction with other members of society that let our identities permeate and be constructed. Henceforth the analysis of Europeans' talk would provide a rich resource to find the determinants of a citizen's sense of European identity. However, opinion surveys are the currently used means to elicit these determinants, which are complex factors still under research. In this article, [the author] explores the factors of European identity that emerge from the talk of two groups of Spanish students from Alcalá University and compares them with the factors that are dealt with in Eurobarometer, the public opinion surveys carried out by the European Commission (2001).
