Summary (translation): Learning is influenced and supported by having social contacts with other people. In the situation of teaching and learning in school, communication in the classroom is very important, especially when comparing and exchanging different arithmetic strategies and procedures. The method of "maths conferences" starts just here: In a small group, students exchange their views about individual strategies on a mathematical problem, and they can learn a lot from each other in the course of interaction. Here, the teacher serves as a moderator and companion of the students' conversation. |
