| Abstract | Teacher training programmes invariably include literature courses. However, these should also cover literature that is relevant for future teachers, i.e. literary texts that are read in schools from grades 1 to 12. The article concentrates on literary texts and adaptations for grades 5-10. Adaptations come under the heading of "language learner literature" that is meant to help adolescents find an approach to literary texts and read with pleasure in the foreign language. Future teachers should therefore learn not only to analyse originals, but also to analyse adapted texts, compare them with originals and evaluate and reflect their merit for teaching in class. Moreover, they should try and adapt a literary text themselves in order to become aware of the multiple difficulties that inherent in any text adaption. (Verlag, adapt.). |
