Abstract	This article describes research findings of factors influencing the position of school professionals regarding the reorganisation of German (vocational) schools. The author reflects on the basis of ideas of the New Public Management (NPM) the central issues of school-modernisation. School and governmental structures must be re-defined under the new premises of increased participation and more autonomous school management. This redefinition is followed by an analysis of the acceptance by staff and management. Acceptance is the key problem to be handled. It is confronted with extreme positions of negliance, with problems of daily burdens of teachers and problematic time-tables, with lack of organisational and functional support, shortage of investment up to the very many other opposing factors. Research results during the experimental phase show a decline of acceptance. (DIPF/Orig.).
