Abstract | Team-orientation and teamwork of teachers have to be seen as cornerstones in the discussion to reform schools. The improvement of the quality of teaching and learning is a significant aim of this reform. However, many teachers are reluctant to work in teams, instead they prefer an individual working style. Between 2003 and 2007 Lower Saxony carried out a project to develop vocational schools into so called "Regional Centers of Competence (ProReKo)". In this project, team-orientation plays a prominent roll to improve the quality of all school activities while teamwork of teachers is in the focus to improve the quality of teaching and learning processes. In the first part of this article the conditions of team-orientation and teamwork of teachers are investigated, based on relevant research. The conditions and results of the implemented teamwork at the ProReKo-schools are elaborated in the second part of this article. (DIPF/Orig.). |
