Abstract | The article presents a selection of findings from an empirical study which aims at exploring the attitudes and perceptions of teachers in Lower Saxony who are involved in one area of content and language integrated learning (CLIL), namely the teaching of history in English. The research interest was to determine how teachers approach their subject and how they assess prevailing scholarly assumptions on the potential of teaching history in English, also with regard to intercultural learning. Data was collected in a multimethod-approach employing a questionnaire survey (n = 134) and interviews (n = 8). In the article, special attention is paid to the teachers' use of media and how they deal with teaching a subject which has received less attention in current school reforms. (Verlag). |
