For about 20 years the 'discovery learning' has been moved into the centre of interest. The students should recognize mathematical relations by themselves. This means more than only the collection of hypotheses: Presumptions should be made plausible and justified. In this article a system of concepts is presented which helps to understand and to analyse the discovery and justification of new knowledge. Following Ch. S. Peirce discoveries are analysed as abductions. These are uncertain inferences. Theoretical and empirical ways can be used to prove respectively explain an abduction. The main points are illustrated by examples of real classroom interaction. |
