(DIPF/Orig.). This article deals with an aspect of learning to which little attention has been paid so far: the representation of learning in communication. The forms of communicating learning can be grasped as coping with the unsolvable problem of making the invisible inner-psychical learning of individuals visible. The representation of the invisible is possible by making a sequence of attributions which show a person's transition from ignorance to knowledge. This method of representing learning can be reconstructed empirically from records of everyday conversation. Its pattern consists of the three aspects: diagnosis, correction and evaluation. Communicating learning is a specific way of dealing with the attribution of knowledge/ignorance. It is a constitutional aspect of pedagogical interaction and pedagogical organisation. In the context of the debate on lifelong learning an increasing decoupling of the institutionalised representation of learning from organised teaching can be observed. This goes hand-in-hand with the establishment of ways of representing learning in settings separate from explicit teaching, in which knowledge is applied or negotiated. (DIPF/Orig.). |
