Abstract | There is no doubt about the influence and the rooting of Physical Education (PE) practices. This socio-cultural recognition must not cast out other types of physical activities (traditional games or leisure sports games), though, as they too may play an interesting educational part depending on to the set pedagogic objectives. In fact the results of various research works carried out in the field of PE teaching have led us into thinking that three types of logic might cover the whole range of physical activities taking place at school: an institutional logic, (referring to sports) a logic of recognition and /or prestige, eventually a pragmatic logic, which makes allowances for the environmental and pedagogic necessities met by the teacher. In the latter case, [the author realizes] that the teacher alters the internal logic of some sports with a view to reaching pedagogic goals. [The author] will call these specific activities which may supplant sports during PE lessons "didactic games". (DIPF/Orig.). |
