Abstract | Students on university campuses lack basic research and information literacy skills, and do not have a clear understanding of how to use the resources of their campus library. Students also lack the ability to synthesize knowledge gained from the academic classroom, the library, and information technology for the betterment of academic scholarship. [The authors suggest]: Collaboration between teacher education faculty members and academic librarians for the advancement of academic research and the development of transferable information literacy skills is necessary. [The authors present a practical set of Information Literacy Instruction Modules which was developed and introduced in their university. It consists of the following parts]: 1) Introduction to research in the disciplines; 2) Introduction to the ERIC database system; 3) Introduction to the Online Book Catalog; 4) Introduction to finding dissertations; 5) Using information appropriately and ethically; 6) Introduction to the WWW for education research.
