Abstract | This concluding chapter, which is part of the study "Benchmarking the quality of education" published in this issue of the European Educational Research Journal, "re-adresses research questions that were raised in the first chapter and answers them to the degree the information that was collected allows for concrete and specific answers. ... These four main research issues are: discrepancies between existing quality concepts implied in the current international indicator publications [Education at a glance/OECD and Key data on education/EU] and actual priorities in (national) educational policies, examination of current practices in benchmarking and the use of standards, the possible need for theme-based presentations of indicators and more synthetic indicators, the issue of feedback to lower levels in the systems, schools in particular." At the end some recommendations are given how to make better and more effective use of educational indicators. (DIPF/Orig./Kr.). |
