Abstract | By making a clear distinction between internationalisation and globalisation, this article underlines the negative effects brought about by globalisation on the evolution of Australian universities. It thus attempts to demonstrate that, beyond internationalisation, which favours an international and intercultural dimension, globalisation is a multifaceted process in which economic constraints have educational polices pay a heavy toll. To prove this point, the author studies the evolution of student enrolment as well as the evolution of the funds of resources which are available (in so doing he analyses the rules that preside over the establishment of curricula). He describes rapid changes which, according to this analysis, can be fully grasped if viewed as being merely subordinate to market principles. (DIPF/orig.). |
