Abstract	This collection of essays is entitled "Imaginaries on Democratic Education and Change" - surprisingly, considering that the very notion of "the imaginary" could presuppose the idea of origination from which the self produces or reproduces its ideals. This collection is far from "imaginaries" if conceived in the form of Kant's transcendental imagination or Freud's disclosure of the unconscious humanist imagination. Our "imaginaries" mirror, in a sense, reflexive narratives of our critical engagement with issues of democracy, education, citizenship, curriculum and change (transformation). [The editors] recount (un)original stories, which will hopefully enable readers to engage with textual, intertextual and transtextual spaces that might lead to possibilities of ethical judgement, critical discernment and deconstructive scrutiny in the realm of democratic education and change particularly in relation to the university and school as changing sites within and beyond the powers of imagination.
