| Abstract | Diversification in foreign language teaching occurs chronologically. The shifts from one method to another have often been too revolutionary for many teachers to follow. Towards the end of this century, the field of foreign language teaching has become more diversified than ever. Diversification in foreign language learning, on the other hand, has been influenced by the development of the media, computers and publishing. The coursebook has been dethroned, since students obtain information about the language from a variety of sources. Both authors of communicatively oriented coursebooks and teachers should adapt (though not uncritically imitate) items from the media for use in the foreign language classroom. (DIPF/orig.). |
