| Abstract | In order to encourage adults to learn several languages, the author suggests designing modular materials with minimal constraints and maximum flexibility: varied products using all existing media (CD- ROM, video, paper) structured as databases rather than courses. Users will thus be able to determine their own learning paths according to their needs, aims, background and material and personal constraints. The situation of adult leamers is typified by constraints of time and place, and the burden of previous educational experience. There is often no opportunity of attending courses, and self-direction is the only solution. Self-access centres are an answer to this problem, and one of the new roles of teachers in this perspective is the creation of flexible learning aids. (DIPF/ orig.). |
