Abstract | The following contribution attempts to present a number of basic informations about the development of European modular structured vocational education systems, to discuss their (possible) effects on the German vocational education system (VES), and at the same time refering to important fields of educational research. While the first chapter describes skeleton conditions and trends of European vocational education-policies, the second chapter shall explain modular vocational education-structures in Spain, Great Britain and the Netherlands. A short, supplementary digression concerning France and the Federal Republic of Germany (FRG) shall clarify then once more the different ranges of corresponding reform processes. Finally the third chapter attempts to refer tasks, problems and perspectives of modular structured vocational education systems on the dual system in Germany and to discuss relevant research statements.
