Abstract	In this chapter, educational restructuring is conceptualized as one type of reform that requires extensive involvement from school principals, teachers and parents for its implementation. Apart from defining restructuring, this chapter reviews different arrangements of decentralization/centralization, choice, private schooling and systemic reform. None of the reforms implemented is new "per se" but they are decribed in a new language borrowed from economics and the market forces that have entered the educational domain. This chapter also makes a review of current research on the effects and impact of decentralization, freedom of choice, privatization and systemic reform on costs, pupil achievement, and so on in different parts of the world.
