Abstract	The use of analogy is a basic, yet extremely powerful tool that can be used to comprehend new facts. The noticeable, yet recent explosion of knowledge in nearly all school-related subject aeas provides ample opportunity for this tool to be useful. However, it is not the invention of more vivid analogies or new levels of vividness that are needed to overcome the difficulties presented by expanding base of knowledge. Rather, it is argued in this paper that even the youngest school children are prone to reason by use of analogy. Further, encouraging pupils' existing capability to learn, comprehend and think through the use of analogy is seen an adequate way in which to prepare them for what can be seen as a knowledge explosion. Examples are given of how to use analogy to build new areas of understanding and of how to integrate children's intuitive pre-existing knowledge into concepts being taught. Finally, the idea of Cognitive Training for Children recently designed by Klauer is outlined as an effective technique which can enhance children's competency in the area of reasoning through analogy.
