Abstract | After briefly describing the various ways in which education systems have developed in the last ten years the author refers to the major factors that have governed the formulation of educational policies, focusing ... particularly in the case of policies relating to content. He then turns to the new 'demands' and the consequences of globalization, placing special emphasis on the question of policies and content. The last three sections ... present in turn: 1) a typological outline of the situation in the different regions of the developing world; 2) a list of areas of concern relating to content and a series of questions regarding: a) the structure of the education system, b) education and training methods; and c) conditions governing the implementation of policies and choices; 3) by way of conclusion a selective list of questions facing decision-makers and specialists.
