Abstract | In the present paper an attempt has been made to deliberate on the issues of non-cognitive learning in schools. ... Owing to its special features the assessment of non-cognitive learning becomes quite different from that of cognitive learning and encounters a number of problems. These problems are due to copious reasons, which are related to to the nature of non-cognitive learning. The reasons include inadequacy of tools, faking, difficulty in capturing evidences, low reliability of the result and deficient reporting. The present paper also discusses the steps involved in the assessment of non- cognitive learning at the primary stage. It is supported by a brief outline of a programme of assessment at different levels of the primary stage to give an idea for its operationalisation. (DIPF/orig.) |
