| Abstract | The adviser, on the basis of detecting needs and considering the heterogeneity of a group of teachers, the degree of knowledge, interests, self-esteem, feelings, the ability to listen, working habits, etc. has to turn individual problems and interests into collective ones. He or she has to categorise and interpret these problems in order to set objectives that are defined and agreed by consensus. The Catalan Language Teaching Service intervenes in the promotion process of pre-primary and primary schools through several actions that are adapted to the demands of the school or to external perception. The role of the adviser is adapted and put into context according to the type of information required.- This contribution was submitted by the authors as a paper for the 25th ATEE Annual Conference in Barcelona 2000.
