Abstract	The publication consists of two parts.... In Part I, "Projects", the author presents concrete examples demonstrating how a reflective approach leads to methods and materials which support the aims of the Council of Europe's Modern Language Programme. These suggestions do not "teach down" to students, but take up their interests and their motivation; they engage teachers and students in joint negotiation processes about the aims and methods of their learning, they integrate the specific subject matter knowledge of the students into their language learning and, most importantly, these projects stress the importance of leamer autonomy and lifelong learning. Part II, "Key Concepts", offers a very useful dictionary of terms and concepts derived from the projects presented in Part I which is also an introduction to new methodological approaches to language teaching. In this way the publication offers both practical suggestions for effective language teaching in a vocational context and the opportunity to put them into a larger theoretical framework.
