Abstract | The author maps out the dramatic changes in patterns of post-sixteen participation over the past decade. He challenges the tripartism that has remained a central feature of post-compulsory education policy and provision and argues for a different vision of post-compulsory education; one that will sustain personal development, encompassing a broad vision of citizenship and learning of all. The present tripartite system, he argues, does not provide the best structure for the learning society of the 21st century. (DIPF/orig.). |
