Abstract	This essay presents findings from two recent surveys investigating different aspects and contexts of intercultural work. The first survey, conducted by Draganis and Orlovius-Wesseley, addressed intercultural training and mediation efforts in business contexts (42 institutions in eleven countries of Western Europe - the European Union and European Free Trade Association). Conducted over a 15-month period and utilizing international networks, the survey generated institutional data as well as information about training designs, content and process, resources, self- and student evaluations, target groups, and institutional networks. The second survey, conducted by Fantini, researched university level intercultural communication courses (more than 50 institutions in eleven countries) in an attempt to learn about these rapidly developing and evolving academic offerings. Conducted over a period of nearly two years, the survey addressed each aspect of curriculum, from needs analysis and conceptualization to implementation and assessment. lt synthesized data which provide information about goals and objectives, curriculum design, content and process. Together, the surveys provide an in-depth view of the development and current status of intercultural work in three spheres of activities covering a broad geographical area. (DIPF/orig.).
