Abstract	The first section gives an overview of the state and circulation of education-relevant information in Poland. The second section "Use of information in educational decision-making processes" analyses the links between decision-making and educational research. The concluding section offers a description of research considered to be important in educational circles. The author looks to the future and reflects on what might be done to ensure that political decisions are based on research results. Drawing by his own experience, he suggests that a decision-maker's activities should be supported by an interdisciplinary team of scientists, administrators and practitioners.... Scientists are needed to perform the following four functions necessary in decision-making and policy implementation: a) to rationalize intuition; b) to provide models for improving unfavourable situations; c) to test the projects adopted by by decision-makers through experiments; d) to support implementation and evaluation of innovations.
