Abstract	This financing portrait gives an outline of the flows, mechanisms and volumes of human resources investment in the Netherlands. The description is given following a structure, laid down by CEDEFOP ... which launched in 1997 a project to produce financing portraits of the vocational education and training (VET) systems within the individual Member States of the European Union. This report is structured as follows: 1) An outline of the political and economic background in the Netherlands. 2) Background information and an explanation of the sources of funds, estimates of expenditure and an explanation of the distribution mechanisms as well as some concluding comments on initial vocational training, continuing vocational training, and training for the unemployed. 3) Future trends and perspectives for the financing of VET in the Netherlands.
