Abstract	The book "is intended as a text for a beginning course in school finance" and covers many aspects of this subject in theory and practice. The first chapter integrates school finance into the context of the economics of education, chapters 2 and 3 analyse the adequate and equitable financing of education. Chapter 4 shows patterns for developing school finance systems and chapter 5 presents the possible sources of revenue (taxes, foundations, business). Chapters 6 to 8 describe the control of education and its finances by local, state and federal authorities. Chapter 9 considers the influence of court decisions and chapter 10 the funding of non-public schools. Chapter 11 looks at the financing of school facilities, chapter 12 at administering the school budget and chapter 13 at accounting and auditing procedures. Administrative problems are discussed in chapter 14 (property, risk management, and insurance) and personnel administration in chapter 15. The last chapter estimates "the road ahead in school finance". (DIPF/Bi.).
