Abstract	The present volume contains the documentation of a youth policy conference held at the initiative of the European Commission (GD XXII, for Education, Training and Youth) in Kiev, Ukraine, in November 1994. This conference was the first of its kind in any of the successor states to the Soviet Union. Representatives from 34 countries attended the conference at the invitation of the Ukrainian Youth Ministry. The participants gathered for an intense exchange of experiences on the situation of young people and youth policy in the new larger Europe. Expectations were high. The idea was to consolidate a network whose main links had been forged more than a year previously, in spring 1993.... The present volume is, of course, not only of interest to participants in the conference. It is aimed at all politicians, officials, practicioners and other experts concerned with young people, the sole provisio being that they view their work in an international context. It makes no claim to completeness. The manuscripts and papers submitted are supplemented by welcoming addresses, reports from the working groups and information supplied after the conference. The annex contains detailed documentation on the Youth Forum organized as part of the conference by representatives of 12 European youth pilot projects. (DIPF/ orig.).
