Abstract | Training in an organization, be it according to the traditional or the new methods, is an essential tool to the management of human resources because it is a means to adapt people to the techno- professional needs that characterise the labour market. It is through the vocational training that enterprises can supply themselves with a new human potential able to meet the new requisites that are expected at present from the modern worker: the capability to take decisions, to have initiative, to be able to communicate and cooperate while responding with competence and flexibility to the concrete situations at work. Similarly, vocational training gives the worker an awarenes of the new technological reality which implies, on its own, a need for changing the traditional way of thinking, both from the human and the technical point of view. The learning organization is the one that considers continued vocational training an asset value for its workers. The main objective of this type of organization is to further its development as a whole, where learning and training are both an intrinsic element of the work process. Learning by working is the main goal of the learning organization. Training is no doubt an important factor, but to know its effects has become an obligation for those enterprises that promote it, for it is from this knowlegde that they can engage in new investments, both human and material. In order to know the effects of the training programmes it must systematically evaluate them. Evaluation of the training programmes in an learning organization implies the existance of certain rules defined previously. These are the starting point and also the objective of the training. The essay on training and evaluation in the learning organization goes on to explain the different phases of evaluation process.
