Abstract | This chapter is the result of a collaboration between an educator from the Escola Superior de Educacao de Lisboa in Portugal and an educator from Mary Immaculate College, Limerick, Ireland. Both of these educators visited one ano ther's institutions in 1993 and cooperated in making a comparison of the provision for science education in one another's countries. The studies examined the curriculum of both states, the manner in which the curriculum is delivered and the manner in which teachers are prepared initially for this work as well as examining the provision for the in-service education of teachers in both countries.
