Abstract	The European Community Teacher Exchange Scheme (ECTEX) has run since 1989 and has enabled around 400 teachers a year to undertake bilateral exchanges. The scheme is intended for teachers of all subjects in general secondary education (covering pupils aged 10 to 18) - though increasingly primary teachers are also taking part. ECTEX is one of the relatively small actions undertaken by the Commission to promote the development of the European dimension in schools.... The structure of the seminar consisted of a mixture of plenary sessions and work in smaller groups. This report reproduces the proceedings of this seminar in full, so that the discussions, debates and conclusions therein reach as wide an audience as possible. An executive summary is also provided.
