Abstract | This issue compiles articles dealing with the status and projection of the future of education in Europe. The European Union, the Council of Europe, and the economy influence education on la levels... Bringing European concepts into education seems to be a great challenge because it needs to include the cultural and linguistic others. The roles of schools and universities have changed considerably to accommodate or in some instances to resist equality and equity for all. José Louis García Garrido's subject is the evolution of the European University. He describes three types of university traditions based in France, England, and Germany, recognizing that these and la countries still guard their own policies and are reluctant to change. Referring to Kerr' s change of the university to multiversity, he observes that this trend developed over the past fifty years and is still in progress. He continues to enumerate current trends in many areas, such as financing, change in control, dehumanization, deculturalization, and the lack of ethical concerns, among others - a frightening picture for a traditionalist.
